Window stuck halfway down...
Is there any way to roll up my passenger window that is stuck halfway down. Both windows stopped working at nearly the same time. I have taken apart & cleaned both switches. My car is an '82.

check out the window relay... 928 615 116 00 top row third one from left....when you push a switch it tells the relay what you would like to do...so if the switch works perhaps the relay does not. If both windows are "DEAD" the relay is a likely suspect..

Actually the relay just provides power to the switches - so if the other side works OK the relay is for sure good, but if both are dead at the same time I'd supect a fuse first (fuse #21 - 25A) and the relay second.
Unfortunately its not the most common SPST relay type - but to close the windows up you could make up a jumper across pins 30 <-> 87 as a temporary solution. Use 1/4" male quick connect terminals widely available. If you do this your central locking will stop working until you replace the relay.

OK--i actually changed a bad fuse and the right window started working. I'm guessing because I cleaned the switch. The driver window is still dead, and that switch looks fine...???

You can swap the switch connnections (L<->R in the forward console area (usually accessible from passenger side behind console carpeted panel - ~ under radio area).

Watch the voltmeter when you hit the switch. What happens?
If it doesn't move at all, then the switch probably isn't making contact, no power being drawn.
If it moves, then the switch is making contact, but the power being drawn isn't doing anything.

Seems the window stops working overnight. I have noticed that now, once the car has been driving for a bit, the driver window will mysteriously start working. Then it will stop working until you tap on the door near the handle. Then will stop again....

Window motor likely needs cleaning/regreasing. (It's probably full of rust.)
Until then, if you remove the coin holder, you can tap on the window motor with the handle end of a long screwdriver to get it working.
At least, this is what I do with my '86.5.
