I looked though the PET and can't seem to find which of these oil tubes is the earlier version and which one is later. My thought is that the straight one is the later version (Porsche trying to save $$$) but can anyone confirm this for me?

 

The one with the curve in it is what's on my 79.

 

Straight tube is '78. Once Porsche realized they couldn't remove the harmonic balancer, they put a crook in the tube.

 

That's funny, the straight tube came off my '85.
