That tells me that the system is maintaining a dynamic equilibrium as per design with adequate "head room" for all conditions. By hearsay it appears that most GTs run hotter than most other 928s.
E, Today my 89GT behaves exactly like you describe..............Before I made some modifications to it to compensate for the SC installation, it touched off the lower temp warning indicator once. That was enough for me. I added fan capacity and cleared everything I could away from the front of the radiator, Including the flaps.

Prior to the SC install, the temp readings behaved exactly like they do now, and exactly as you describe your experience. I have to admit that seeing that temp guage riding the high white mark is an anxiety producing experience.

Why the hell couldn't they have made it read in the middle of the guage instead of the last white line as in:"it-is-ok-now-but-a-little-more-heat-and-you-are-in-deep-poo".

Dunno, but there's a constant "pucker factor" built in to the car.
