Bryce,
Nice job on the clean up. The WSM's have testing procedures for the various sensors. Some, such as the Thermotime switch and the coolant temp sensor should probably be replaced due to age. I am sure you will win the battle. Also a good time to replace the fuel lines.
Good luck,
Dave

Also, if it is running that rich, make sure that the FPRs, and damper are not leaking. Also when running try unplugging the cold start injector to make sure it is not dumping fuel too.

Good stuff Bryce, keep at it!

I'm chasing a possible vacuum leak and struggling idle w/my '84 US S L-Jet. Being a newbie- doing green wire install revealed at least one nasty cracked hose; all will be replaced. Heck, I even stumbled upon a barely in there spark plug (on #3?).

I was already going to do an intake refresh and a little engine cleaning. In following your thread, now I'm definitely gonna do my AFC, mounts and new o-ring too. Wish I had a garage though. ;-)

Curious, how many miles you got on yours? Mine is about to roll over 107k... um... once it's back together.

Wink

MeteorGrey: Thank you for the information. I shall investigate!

Dave: Yes I was thinking of doing that Might as well get it out of the way.

neilh: Any idea where I could purchase those for the most reasonable price?

j.kenzie: I thought about replacing the thermotime switch. Never even bothered looking into the coolant sensor. The cold starter was recently replaced, but I will purchase these as well.

Lizard928: My initial thought was maybe it had something to do with the FPRs and dampener. I have replaced those any also tried running without the cold starter

Yaskota: Garages can be hard to find I did a lot of my initial car work in the cold Oregon rain before finding a garage to work in. I feel for ya buddy! Hopefully my thread can help you figure out some of your problems. I'll post more pictures here in the coming days.
My 928s has 76k miles. It had a rough life in the past 2 decades. It's been stolen twice and when I got it, it looked like it might never breath life again. The insurance company rated it a total loss after being stolen the second time, as it was curb jumped and did a number on one of the wheels. Luckily all the damage the was done was fixable. I've driven this car probably about 50 miles, but I have to manually add more gas at this point due to the startup issue with the fuel pump relay. It just doesn't do the car justice to have to go through that. I'll have her in tip top shape when I'm done with her.
