Default AT shift cable replacement

Need to replace shift cable on my 84 S. Any detailed instructions out there? Thanks

do you mean the shifter cable or the pressure cable

The shifter cable I think. The shifter doesn't shift and it was stuck in gear when it (the problem) occurred. Now when I put it in park the car will not start.

If you are not certain that the shifter cable is broken, you should check the adjustment, etc. Replacing it is not a trivial task.

hi

look under the car at the tranny end and see if the ball has come off the lever on the trans if not see if the lever is moving when the selections are made on the shifter if the lever is moving the cable should be ok

it can be adjusted by taking off the ball end (and pin) and twisting either clockwise or anticlockwise
