Default New Muffler, RMB or Entire Exhaust?

As we were flying down Co. 31 about 5 mi fro our endpoint in Rollingstone, the shark started to really growl. I knew it was an exhaust breach, but didn't know where.

Once we pulled over. we saw that the input pipe to the muffler had finally corroded and snapped (21 years old...), leaving the muffler hanging by the rubber. I managed to unhook one rubber block but had to borrow a knife from a nearby farmhouse (Dave and Edie fetched it) to cut the other one off.

Now she's really load, and I can't stand the vibration. I'm deciding between an RMB or another stock muffler or a whole new exhaust.

I'd like to do the work myself, but I don't have any welding skills or equipment. It looks like a sleeve is all that it takes to connect a new muffler or RMB, but it seems like it should be welded. Any input from those in the know?- Ruf

I have an exhaust for you. Works great for a 16V 928.

Ruf if you decided to go with a stock set up I have a cat that I pulled off of my 82 for cheap. But if your looking for suggestions I went with a "test pipe" to replace the cat from 928 Specialists and then a Borla. I love it!!! In fact I wish that it was louder.... I might even pull the mid "muffler" off of the Borla to get more noise. But the way it is now is not to obnoxious. You do notice the popping of the exhaust in 4th when you let up on the gas.

Jim and Chucker, yea, I went to Power Broker site via your site earlier (by random search by the way) it does look tempting, and the prices are good.

I feel that my car now, without a muffler at all, but stock everything else is too loud, Actually, its the vibration I hate. since the end of the pipe is "under the car instead of behind it. I think I'll just order a stock muffler from Devek and have the local shop weld it on. - Ruf
