Default Need more leg room

This may be a strange question. Is there any way to move the driver seat back in the 928? I have an '82 manual transmission car and my son has out grown the cockpit. Are there any longer seat rails that are available or anything else that is a bolt on fix for this? My other options are to remove and remount the seat anchors back a couple inches. We really enjoy the car and I'd hate to trade it in for something longer.
I appreciate the advice on this one. Thanks.

if i remember right. there is another set of holes to mount the seat that can move it back a inch or two. but being the rails are slanted down, any longer and you will be sitting in the back seat.. :-(

There is, there are mounting holes for the seat about an inch or 2 farther back, just unbolt the seat and move it back to match with the holes. Bolt it in and you are set.

You can also adjust the angle of the gas pedal, has 3 different sets of holes to adjust to.

Hope this helps.

most run out of headroom and or need steering wheel extensions from tilting back the seat as you get much over 6 ft 4 inches. And as noted you can move the pedals

My '78 MGB. Couldn't fully depress the clutch with the seat all the way back. 'Course it had no headroom, but you didn't ask about that....

I'm 6'5'. My driver's seat ... ... is on rearmost mounting holes. Parcel shelf removed.

Momo Corse flat bottom steering wheel with 20mm spacer. (now never bang hands on knees when turning).

Both my GT and S4 have a sunroof, meaning 25mm (1 inch) less headroom. Annoying when I need to wear a helmet on track days.

I have a sports seat (not 928) ready to fit. With my frame I tend to sit more 'on' rather than 'in' the stock seat, especially with my back and shoulders. The new seat fits me well and should give me a more headroom and shoulder support.

I'm apparently 6' (I was 5' 11" in the UK, but everything is bigger in the US, except the pint and gallon ), and, with the seat adjusted how I naturally do, my head is brushing the sunroof. I should be able to live with it, as long as I avoid potholes.

Letting your son drive your 928 must make you one cool dad!

Isn't there also some adjustment possible with pedals?

I'm the exact opposite, I let my dad drive my 928 . I have no sunroof and manual sport seats so I have the max stock amount of headroom, but I am 5'8 so I have no problems.

I would definitely recommend a manual sport seat if you want more room.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the replies. I've been off line for a couple days here - busy at work so I can pay for 928 parts.
We do have the seat in the rear position. Don't know why I didn't think to take the shelf out. That should be a big help.
I'll have to crawl in there and see about adjusting the pedal didn't know that was an option.
This forum is great. Thanks again.
