Default Help with MAF? (and kicking/misfiring)

Hi everyone,

So I am having issues with my 86 kicking/misfiring when I stomp on the gas in 2nd and 3rd (mostly between 2k and 3k rpm)

After doing some research it looks like I may need to look at my MAF. I came across this on ebay and wanted to know if it would work... there is not a lot of info on what car this is originally from or help from the seller.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/181340710546...S:1123&vxp=mtr

So two questions...
- Am I on the right track with the issue of the kicking/misfiring when accelerating hard?
- Would this MAF work on my car... 86.0

Thanks in advance!

That's the incorrect one, it's for earlier years pre-85 I believe. You don't need to buy a new one, just have your old one rebuilt.

Contact Kevin at http://www.injectionlabs.com/

I had him rebuild mine for my '86. Turn around was about 5 days from shipping to getting it back. Just email him from the website to get TAT and pricing. Always best to have your MAF rebuilt OR buy one that has rather than scrounging around and getting a "new" old one that probably just needs rebuilding anyways.

What's the condition of the distributor, rotors and ignition plug wires? If all are original you want to replace them all.

Lots of possible reasons for problem, but to answer the MAF question:
0 280 203 015 only fits 81 - 84 with L-Jet, does not fit 86 - you need a 928-606-141-00, but as ^^ says, have it rebuilt and calibrated.

Thanks for the help! I'll try the whole tune-up first and then go from there. Any suggestions on a wireset? It looks like they are very very pricy and a couple options out there.

You'll need to get your MAF rebuilt anyways as they do tend to fail.

As for ignition wires, I went with Carl's set from 928MS: http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/sparkplugwires.php

Really great set. The cylinder ID makes it easy to keep track. Comes in different colors. Great for the price, I think one of the cheapest out there for the 928. Got mine in grey. For the model selection it doesn't go to S, only S4 is lowest, but it doesn't matter as long as the year is correct.
