Hi guys. Well hasn't this been a fun time trying to nut through all these dramas. Thanks to everyone for your ideas, all of you were right.
It was a build up of all the problems.
But guess what. You win Curt. The main problem was that dreaded green wire. Not so much the coax itself but the plug on the end, it had actually perished and all that was left was the two pins going into the other part of the connector. Did not see the connector at first as it was under a heap of other stuff. Was tracing the wire along and lifted it a bit and it pulled straight out of the connector. So it must have been just sitting in there and intermittently shorting out. Thought it was strange as it wasn't consistant.
Anyway, i cleaned up the pins and pushed them into the connector properly and taped over them and everything seems fine now. Just have to readjust the mixture.
Thanks again for the feedback guys, you were a great help. Certainly saved some dollars. Only cost me for a fuel pump check valve and a fuel filter.
Much appreciated.
Gary
