Default Spring questions for '78 w/ Bisteins And Adj Perches

A few years ago, I installed some Bilsteins with adjustable perches on my '78.

The replaced fronts were not adjustable, but the rears were.

After seeing the "4x4" effect, I decided to cut the springs to allow the ride height to be properly set.

I'd say I cut at least a coil off each spring.

Well, the extra stiffness is lots of fun on smooth roadways, but it is pretty bone jarring on our lovely NY city streets.

I was thinking about finding a set of used Eibachs, but I just think that those would also be very stiff on my not so fat old bugger.

So I'm wondering if a set of used stock strings off a later model would be the way to go?

What I'd be concerned about is if with the different spring rates offered if one would be a good fit for my set up? And I do like a firm ride.

Any thoughts?

I have an '80 I just installed bilsteins with factory springs. With shocks at lowest setting I ended up with a 6 inch gap between the tire and fender. Looked pretty silly IMO.

So we installed some S4 springs which helped lower the car to a 3 inch gap with shocks set down as far as they will go. Car still looks silly.

Next step is to pull the S4 springs and cut them starting with 1/2 coil. Hopefully this is enough to get the car to its original ride height in front. I am not keen on cutting the coils it changes the ride in an unpredictable way. At this point if I could do it over I think I would install factory shocks.

Seems to me the Eibachs might be a cleaner solution that late model stock springs - no more cutting.

I would suggest to get a set of Euro springs from a 84 85 86, the Eibachs will be stiffer.
The factory springs are softer
