Talk me out of it
Contemplating selling my 82. I am obsessed with this car and love every minute of it. It does need a lot of work. Transmission synchros and ac... I have my 28 model a ford sitting in my garage in NorCal. The salt air is slowly eating away at it, so I need to bring it to Las Vegas. My problem is I don't have the room for both.. I don't want to spend an additional $190/mo for a storage unit to keep one it when I could be putting that money into one of the cars.. Any thoughts on less expensive storage? Maybe I get a house with a 3 car garage? My 2 year old bmw sits in the driveway now and the paint is starting to get affected. I wish I could have a large storage shed for all my toys!!
Any thoughts greatly appreciated. I hate to sell my 928 as even if I get top dollar, it's worth a lot more to me!

You're asking the addicts, known addicts, your brothers and sisters who have supported your addiction, all of whom obviously have no interest in changing their situation, for advice on how to kick the habit?

Do you have enough height for a 4 post lift? 928 above the BMW?

Put the 928 and Model A in the garage in Vegas. Put the BMW outside with cover on it. Fact is, most cars today produced in big numbers (including BMW) are appliances...very very few will be classics or collectable. They are made by robots. 15 years from now the BMW, if you keep it that long, will be worth roughly the same as a low mile Camry of the same year (because the BMW will suffer the same too expensive to fix syndrome that our 928s suffer). In fact, I've always felt the 928 was THE boundary between the "classic old car collectables" and the "four wheeled appliances made by robots" we have today. It's this kind of one foot in the past and one foot in the present nature of the 928 that makes them borderline collectables. At least that's how I view them. The 928 by being so innovative and modern, ushered in the modern era of cars, and sealed it's own fate - high maintenance costs hurting it's future resale. Put the BMW outside.

Do the local zoning/HOA rules allow a "Canopy Style" carport? More or less a four pole roof.
Provides protection from sun and rain (not that you worry about that).
Home Depot has them (first hit in a search, they are available lots of places):
