Autotransmission slow response
Hi guys,
I have a question regarding my 3sp autotransmission :
when my 928S 1980 is not driven for about a week, and I drive it out of my garage in reverse gear, I always need to rev it a couple of times
before the reverse gear actually moves my car.
After a minute, I do not have the problem anymore.
IS THIS NORMAL FOR A 3SP AUTOMATIC OF 1980 ?
Is it vacuüm related or does the oil need to be pumped through the system?
(Autotransmission has been completely rebuild and shifts perfectly)
thanks
Gerrit

It could be vacuum related, did you replace the modulators or reuse them? Also, did you replace all of the vacuum lines on the transmission.
Did you crush the banjo connection on the front of the intake manifold or are the crush rings leaking vacuum.
Check these things to be sure vacuum isn't he issue, you can also adjust the modulation pressure on the 3 speeds much easier than the 4 speed autos.

I checked and they seem to be ok.
But what I noticed is that I do not have a vacuum reservoir. The PO has removed it. Could this be the reason?
Or does the reservoir serves for other purposes such as airco and brake booster??

Mine does this, has done for the last 12 years, not getting any worse. From my reading it could be the B3 band adjustment, or the B3 piston not sealing properly. Adjustment - remove the kickdown solenoid (I am told not much fluid is lost) - pax side front of box, with a wire attached, grind a slot in the end of the broken off bolt just above; loosen the locknut, screw the bolt in to 5Nm (bottomed), back off 1.5 - 1.75 turns, tighten locknut , replace solenoid.
Its a pity the diagram above is wrong, both 1 and 2 saying the same thing...2 should be " Min at" ??
