Has anyone tried this paint before? My passenger side mirror needs replacing, and both mirrors are a little chipped and scuffed and was thinking of trying this. It is specific to my year, and matches paint code.. Any advise? Thank you! Name: image-4005930234.jpg

I don't know about that company. But, I have used this company and the paint was dead on. Not cheap though... They're in NV, but unfortunately, near Reno. Good luck!

Dr Colorchip works great and the color was perfect. But not cheap.

Things like flag mirrors I have seen routinely show up in a good paint shop for normal painting.

OTOH it could always be some buddy of the painter, not something available to the general public.

I travel to Reno often, I have family there. Do you know roughly how much for a primer, base, and clear coat from them?
I am also considering going to my body shop and having then match my paint exact. I have gotten pretty handy with the cup gun after having to paint my wife's interior trim to her paint on her Mini Cooper!
I found a few mirrors on ebay for around $70, but am going to wait for one around $25 ( there's a lot of drivers mirrors in that range. I only need the end cap from the mirror, as the female threads inside which hold it on to the body have stripped.

This is actually less than what I was looking at, thank you!

It will make your car look great if you really paint them rather than touch them up with a brush.

If the rest of the car is nice it will be worth the effort and $.

If you've got the HVLP paint gun, paint them yourself.

I bet it turns out great.

Good luck with it.

That's what I'm thinking now. Back bumper is looking a little full as well so maybe I paint that with the mirrors...

I used PaintScratch before and they are excellent. However, you should remove your gas door, wrap it carefully, and ship it to them; they will hand-match the exact color and it was dead-nuts on with my previous car.

I ordered a spray bomb for my 928 using the paint code, and while darn close, the exposed paint on the car does slightly change enough over time to warrant a hand match. Not inexpensive..but worth it.

I am thinking about using this:

http://scratchwizard.net/

The difference is that this comes with a filler that supposedly is better when the scratch or chip is deep.

I had the exact same experience. If you are going to do it, have them match the paint exactly. Some colors may be easier, but you won't know until too late.
Good luck,
Dave

I think I'm going to take the car to my body shop and have them match the door, since the mirrors are attached to it, and I will resort myself. By the time I pay for shipping and a good quality arisol, it's the same price as getting good paint for my cup gun.

I wast thinking about it, and in the vegas heat, spray paint does not usually hold up more that one summer.. So better off with high quality paint and clear coat.

many quality can paints ARE high quality and will last as long as their gun applies counterparts....

here for example the paint supplier will mix your paint and install in the cans for you....

SAME paint..

i think that the problem with the rattle cans is that when someone rattle cans a job, the prep is less and it may not go on as think due to the applicator.
