Default correct tire

Would would be the best tire choice for 16" Phone Dials would be as close to the original P7 as possible?
These are for the '80 grey car. Not looking for all out performance.

The Continental Extreme contact D W has a rather period correct look to the tread pattern...not too fancy or stylized. And at $106 per tire pretty inexpensive

^^^ That's why I went with the contis. I like the tread pattern, but, to me, they look more narrow than the other 225s I've had in the past.

Different makers different tread width.....the 225 mm width is the widest bulge of the side wall and NOT tread width plus they get to use what ever rim width they think appropriate which can really change the bulge..

Plus the Continental at least is a European name which seems more like it might be "original" than say Sumitomo , or Toyo

Here are the ones on my car. As shown in the pic., once they had some dirt on them to contrast with the clean rubber I found that they looked better.

I put a set of the Conti extreme contact DWS on my M3 and loved them....very quiet and a much nicer ride than the PS2's that came on the car.....sure they didn't have the peak grip, but were very predictable when pushed to the limit & they came with a 50k warranty!!!!
