Default '85 S4 on ebay

Probably shouldn't bother with this but it increases my knowledge of these beasts. Brockton Motors in MA has this on ebay. I asked him what made this '85 an S4 and he wrote back, "It has S4 motor, it's not an S4" SO, doesn't the S4 have different FI and therefore different computer?? Phil Tong's charts don't go into FI specs/MY. We all know about the other upgrades, but it would be an unusual and difficult mod to put the S4 motor in an '85 wouldn't it? Anybody done it and not done the suspension? Just wondering.

Beth,

there is an error in that website. 1986 5.0 Liter is a 32v not 16v

Yes the computers are quite different between the S4 and the 85-86S (different enough that if you wanted to add a piggyback computer to the 850r 86 it requires two as opposed to only one for the S4).

However, dropping the engine in is not difficult at all and is rather easy. I began down this road with Louis Ott on the Predator but bid not finish it. On the other hand the heads on the 85-85 are not swapable (or only with great difficulty, you might as well just swap the entire engine).

There is quite a bit of incorrect information on that site. For example the 85 and 86 are both 32valvers with 288HP.
