928 Function at the Junction 2014 -- Jul 3 to 6
My family and I are hosting the second annual 928 Function at the Junction here in Grand Junction, CO over the July fourth weekend. This is intended for all 928 owners and enthusiasts everywhere. The profile will be similar to last year.
On thursday we will do a tour of the local Alan Car Museum and maybe combined with wine tasting, if I can arrange it. On Friday July 4th we will take a fairly long tour to Moab, Utah to see the Arches National park including a box lunch picnic and possible hike over to the Delicate Arch for those brave enough. It is about a mile and a half each way and is likely to be pretty hot.
Then friday evening we will enjoy some fireworks display at the park.
On Saturday we will take part in our own Indepence Two Car Show featuring the Porsche 928 and along with some of the local Iron. Saturday evening we will have a banquet for all of us and the other car show participants.
Sunday morning after breakfast will be time to start for home although we may set up some morning activity for those who do not have far to travel.
The hotel is the Clarion Inn and I have several rooms blocked for the event. The rate is the same as last year -- $79.00. I'll post the reservation phone number and further registration information later. I just wanted to give everyone heads up so you can put this on your schedule.

Can't wait, last years GTG was wonderful. Great driving, great views, great food and great folks.
Got to find another "special" 928 or i'll have to drive my 911 if that's acceptable?

It is going to be great to have all of you guys, and your gals as may work out. The 911 is also welcome (so long as you are still enthusiastic about the 928--just kidding, you are welcome here).

Hi Steve. The guy is Stan and it looks like he is looking for a complete ashtray assembly. And, I think he has had several responses that seem positive. On the other hand, the only one I can think of that I have laying around is probably the one that I am deleting from the center console of the 88 S4 that I am going to put the Flush Center Console Conversion into when it warms up a bit; and that one is still laying in the car, as I recall. The things that I think you may have seen laying around were more likely the various shifter trim surrounds that I have fabricated for the Flush Conversion.
If it comes down to it Stan can have the one out of the 88. I suspect it is the same as the 85 Euro.

Here is the telephone number for the Clarion Inn where we are having this function this summer. I hope you are all putting this on your July calendar or have already done so. Now is a good time to call the Hotel and make your reservation.
Call 970 243 6790. Use the phrase "Porsche 928" in your call to be sure you get the group rate of $79, plus taxes. The rate is good for whatever consecutive days before and after that you might desire to be here.
The weather is warming up some, so pretty soon I'll be able to make the scouting trip to Utah to check out the cruise to the Arches National Park for Friday the 4th of July. I'll have a report about that when I do and with some pictures.
I think I am going to do the registration differently this year and set it up with a piecemeal method of structuring your registration fees with the particular events and meals that you are wanting to take part in, rather than a larger blanket fee as we did last year.

That's great, Ralph and all you other guys. I spent some time today working on some details of the event and will have some things finalized shortly. Tomorrow, after Cars and Coffee, I am going to meet with a young guy to help me work up a graphic for the event T-Shirts. I think you will like my current idea.

I have made some of the plans for this 928 Function at the Junction more definite and have just invited about 75 or more of the locat street iron to the Saturday July 5th car show featuring the Porsche 928. I received a lot of positive response and expect that we may have about twice the participation we had last year.
I have the Funciton registration form completed and will be posting it here shortly for interested persons to complete and return.
I am also going to take a scouting trip to the Arches National Park in the next couple of weeks to be sure that that part of the plan is going to work smoothly. I need to figure out what the oil leak on the front of the GT engine is all about before I make that test drive, but I should be able to do that in the next few days.
I request that this thread be made sticky, if possible at this point. Thanks.
