Question Key Head Removal - Help

How the heck do you get the key head off the key????? I have the head split in 2, battery out, two little plastic keyway pieces out and a little spring out and the F'ing thing won't come apart. HELP!!!!!!

(Picked up a new key from the dealer today and I want to try it - didn't get the head though. Doesn't look like key will work - but that's a whole different problem)

Beth,
The head just pulls right off of the key. There are two prongs that go into the head, one straight and one with a little hook. Wrap the key in a few tissues and grip it with a pair of pliers. Get another pair and wiggle the head side to side an it'll pop off.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was going to try that, but I didn't want to break anything - it seems like it's on there pretty good. Ok, here goes nothing.

Here's where I'm at - and I can't get the metal piece out of the plasic!!! And thanks Thom, at least I know I got it apart correctly.

Tried pliers - and it won't come apart. Time to find another human who has stronger hands then me.

I know it's not glued on - I actually put this head on - my old one was all beaten up by the PO and it was easy to disassemble. When I get home I'll get out the WD-40 and bigger pliers.

One more question - while trying to put this back together, the little silver spring sprung out, hit me in the head and flew across the room. I can't find it. What does it do anyways?

I've seen the replacement head on 928 Intl.'s site, hold on I'll look...

[pause...]

Aha! here:

key head

This might be simpler, and safer, you know...in case of accident.

I couldnt get my head apart when I replaced the one with the lost battery cover/button. The key wouldnt come out at all. I had to open the cover, pull the spring out, and then the little slide piece of plastic would retract, and release the notched prong of the key. Inserting into the new head is easy, it just pushes in and snaps in place.
