Talking Silicone Implant

I have just received my new plug wires from AJ-USA and I am most pleased with what they have sent me. The set, including coil wires, has all the proper BERU connectors attached, each wire marked with the appropriate plug number, and sells for a most reasonable price compared to competitors.

However, they included two tubes of silicone dielectric compound. As a complete novice I have no idea where I should apply this material. Is it used on the electric connections to improve and protect conductivity, or applied to the rubber seals and caps to ease insertion?

Inquiring minds need to know.

The dialectric (sp!) grease is supposed to go on the inside endge spark plug boots to prevent moisture from getting into the plugs/distributor contacts .
You don't need a great deal. Just a smear.

It also makes it easier to remove the leads in future because the rubber cannot stuck to the cap or plug.

I paid 120US for my leads from 928 Intl. Is that expensive?

If I didn't know what dialectric grease was I swear I was on a B and D site! Not that I have ever been on one of those. I wouldn't know where to find one, even. OK guys I got suckered into reading this post how many of you have had bad silicone experiances??? Also I don't like all this talk of applying grease to help insertion!

GT,

how about a link for the wires. I looked at the AJ USA site and couldn't find the wires.......

I did buy my 930 steering wheel from them and am very happy with it.

Default Keyhead

OT as long as we are rating AJUSA, I bought their "keyhead" which is supposed to fit 928 -- well, it doesn't. No way the shank will fit in that keyhead. An ebay seller has what looks like the same picture and advertises it under "Carrera Keyhead" to fit 928. I doubt it will fit.

I did buy their microfiber baseball hat (black w/red letters) and I am happy with it. And so it goes

The set was $267.00 which I thought was a good deal considering all the connectors are attached and in place for installation. Since these are larger than the a stock Porsche wire set I did not have to remove, drill out and reinstall any hardware.

I did not wish to purchase the economy set which would have been less money, however we will find out just how "economy" this set is over time. In my opinion they appear to be good quality as was the service I received from AJ-USA.

To navigate to the plug wires, register as a 928 owner, go to Stores > Porsche > Ignition.

Thanks for the tip on the silicone. I look forward to putting the car back together soon before the summer has left for the harsh weather of winter.

Just got my injectors back from the Injector Perfector. Like new for $19.00 each. Now if that that silicon vacuum tubing would show up I can get back to work.

PS. How do we include photos now, or can we?
