Manual Headlight adjuster won't adjust
The headlights on my car have an adjustment system by the drivers seat. It has two small pipes and seems to be hydraulic in operation. But the thing is it won't work and I want to fix it but can't find any info on it in my WSM.
Does anyone know how to fix it?

Must be a Euro thing, I don't see anything like that in the option codes. There is nothing like that on my US 1980. Can you post a picture? Are you sure it's not pneumatic? So much other stuff is done with vacuum hoses on the cars.

The adjuster looks like a two part epoxy dispenser (twin plungers) it was filled with what seems to be silicon fluid . there were small cylinders mounted to the lower part of the headlight assembly which would extend and slightly raise the beam ....Part of the federalizing process required that it be disabled .

My '85 Euro has this rig as well. It is shown in the body or electrical section in PET5 (cannot remember which right now) as a single part, so don't expect to repair bits and pieces on it without doing fabrication yourself. I figure replacement cost would probably be the purchase price of another 928!
As far as I know all europeans cars require a way to adjust headlights to avoid blinding oncoming traffic dependant on the load in the vehicle (something North America could definitely use). The 928 had a manual device....my Audi A4 has an automatic system.
The unit is hydraulic in nature...and the best info I have found undicates that it is filled with mineral oil as fluid. Few people indicate that they have a working unit and when it does it does not move the headlight very much. Seems the oil leaks out or the seals bypass very easily.
If you figure out anything more on it, please post the info. I'd love to get mine working...but it is way down the to-do list.

Yep. Disabled. And without the fluid the air-filled pistons allow the headlights to bounce up-and-down when you hit bumps.
It looks like there are parts in the PET to fix this, or a home-fix could be applied. Plan to do it myself, but haven't heard of this being fixed, yet.

....or replaced with an electric servo from a large-scale model aircraft (or ground vehicle) to give you the same effect.
......... the USA cars have a simple plastic rod which fixes the headlight so that it will not bounce .....
