Default Anyone Else Notice Leaky Wheels?

My Design 90s appear to leak air. Same thing happened before I changed to new tires. Anyone else have this problem?

Could be that the tire changer did not clean the lip well, maybe leaving a little bit of crud, or corrosion there. Could be a leaking shrader valve, or a leaking valve stem.

Did you spray bubbles on the tire to find the leak?

Ernest,
Ever consider that your wife is sneaking into the garage at night and tweaking stuff on your '91GT just to keep you out of the house during the daytime? Mine used to ask what I was going to do after retirement. Now she knows...work on my 928.

Pam asked me what I'll do when I'm finished working on the car. I told her I'll never be finished.

Ernest, are all of them leaking at the same rate?? Only one wheel?
I have found that in the summer time I am constantly adding about a
pound or two every 2-3 weeks. In the winter time they hardly budge.
If you have the design 90 wheels you have the pressure sensors that can leak......as each one seals with an "O" ring........but I can't see all of them leaking at the same time.

I had a leaker after I got new tires - front right. Had the tire re-mounted at the tire shop and it's been fine ever since. I think it was what someone else said - it wasn't sealed properly.

Valve stems can leak sometimes.

But I have also had a crack in a wheel, that was inside, that slowly leaked air.

I have 3 piece rims, so I replaced the bad portion, and everything has been fine since then...

Hi Jim,
They're not chromed. The left front leaks faster than the right front. I think I'll have them remounted and the valves replaced. Might need new O rings on the sensors as well.

Ernest......probably just the mounting or valve stems. If the wheel sensors haven't been removed before, they are probably not a problem. The only time they really become a problem is if they are removed and not put back together very cleanly with a new O-ring and torqued correctly. There are special tools to remove the sensors.......if you every want to get the whole scoop on this......let me know......I've done it all before and have one of the tools needed. Good luck......
