New Member.The good,the bad,and the ugly
Greetings Rennlist 928 forum. My name is Steven, friends call me Fish and I am located in North Texas up on the Red River. I have been lurking for a bit and decided to take the plunge. I wanted an ob with an auto and no sunroof. I began to look for a running, driving project. I purchased an 81 euro, non s, last Saturday. The history as I know it is as follows: The car was purchased by a gentlemen in Plano,TX off ebay from a dealer in Cali
and arrived in Texas running on one cylinder and began restoration. It was sold in 2007 to the guy I bought it from up in Muskogee OK.
THE GOOD: work done from 2002 to 2004. The engine was pulled, and compression checked, timing belt, fuel lines, belts and hoses, plug wires, distributor and spark plugs replaced. The Suspension system boasts new shocks and springs, steering rack and pinion rebuilt. The auto. transmission
was rebuilt. Brakes and master cylinder rebuilt. The grounds were cleaned and new tires installed.
THE BAD: No ac, but everything is there, needs a starter, tires have flat spots from sitting, and of coarse a host of electrical gremlins to be worked out. The car has been in fix what's broke but no PM as far as I can tell. This list could go on for a while but that's the fun part, no?
THE UGLY: PO decided to try his hand at body work for the first time. Rub stips removed and holes filled. poorly. Paint is amateur at best, and hood does not line up, it will need a professional to line things back up to be correct. She is the proverbial 10 footer.
I can't upload pictures. I don't have enough posts yet, If someone would help out I'll email them, I know you won't believe me till you see pics.
Oh, and please limit kicks to the crouch for putting money into a respray to one per man. Let it begin.

Welcome to Rennlist and 928 ownership. Since you are so close you are going to have to make the 30 minute trip south for the DFW breakfasts, first Saturday of the month. PM me your e-mail and I'll make sure you get on the mailing list with all the information.

welcome the Rennlist and 928 ownership.
You are in a great part of the US for assistance with many owners in and around DFW who include Sean the 928 Doc and Roger who can supply any part required, 928sRus.
as mentioned pic upload comes with membership.......I'd also get the a/c fixed asap!

Welcome aboard. May I suggest the aircon as the first item to tackle?
Oh, It's close to the top of the list. Wed. night went over to my buddy's shop and balanced and rotated the tires, flat spots from sitting. I also filled the tranny to the appropriate level, small pan gasket leak from over torque I'm sure. During the test drive I couldn't get over 60 without a descent sized shutter from the front end, but kicked her into neutral and the shutter continued so I knew it wasn't drive line associated. They were all 2 to 3 oz. out of balance, those aluminum lug nuts freaked me out, so freakin light. When I left the shop almost all of the shimmy was gone, I think those tires are toast the are 10 years old for crying out loud, I plan on keeping the phone dials so a new set of 16 inch tires are in order. The #1 issue to be addressed is the starter, one out of 10 starts is a spin and gnarl, Roger100 I'll pm you, but I also left my information on the 928s-r-us site, I'm 40 minutes away
