Default Windscreen aerial

The PO had a windscreen fitted with the radio aerial inside, according to him it was quite expensive (2.5k) but he never bothered to even hook it to the stereo, subsequent searches for the lead by myself have failed, I have been under the dash in some excruciatingly uncomfortable positions with a torch to no avail, any ideas where the connection may be?

The connection from windscreen to the antenna lead in the car is under the wiper blade body plate that site between the hood and windscreen. Next connection is the radio I think.

And yes those windshields can cost over a grand if you can even find one.

Aerial Trivia down under - a lot of the early 87 & 88 cars delivered to Australia had the earlier automatic aerial fitted at the rear by the dealerships - I can only think that the reception was poor for the screen aerial.

Mine is an 86 5.0 and it has the aerial in the screen but an antenna has been fitted at rear like Roger stated. Just about every 928 here has an external antenna. Roof mounted or rear body mounted.

The antenna booster sits under the dash right where the connector from the windscreen comes through.

The connector is hidden under the cowl panel at the base of the windscreen - and the booster is in the very corner of the cabin. Some poor pics here:

In Australia , the ( in ) windscreen radio aerial was a small disaster , meaning the reception was at best extemely poor & at worst no reception , from memory this was circa 1985 to 1988

This was easily remedied by the Porsche dealer I worked at in Sydney during this period , Porsche cars Australia supplied us ( the dealer ) with a black mast Harada fully automatic aerial & any owner that complained about radio reception ( nearly always before the first service ) , we would get the customers 928S /S4 in, drill the hole ( via the template we made & installed the black mast full auto aerial & wired up & the reception was fantastic ( for Australia )

In Sydney at the time , the most listened to stations at the time ( for businessmen who leased these cars ) was always AM stations , FM was not as bad in reception with the windscreen aerial unless you drove out of the city & then the reception was very bad on FM with the windscreen aerial , but with the full length conventional Harada aerial the reception even in out of city area's was very good

Fantastic information Jet I thank you kindly, I bet the PO wishes he had read your post before he bought it , was he on the money about the price being close to 2.5k?
