Interesting... are these the old style Flag mirrors ("Elephant Ears"), or the oval GTS style mirrors? Do they still fold?

If you look at some of the BMW mirrors, they have "dimples" on the housings, facing the window. This was to calm the air and reduce noise. Apparently, smooth surfaces are not always ideal for air flow.

Nicole,

First I want to thank you for all you've done for the 928 community.
They are the old style flag mirrors on my 1980. They do still fold but the silicon will bunch up after a few folds. The silicon eventually wears off from wind / weather but lasts about six to nine moths.

Hi Ron: Thanks for the nice note, and the more detailed description of your silicone trick. It certainly does raise the question, if there is anything more durable that can be done to achieve the same result. But I'll leave this to the active 928 vendors out there.

im also looking for a solution to the driver door mirror wind noise. If I turn it out or in abit, it stops. If I put my hand on the door just next to the window and the mirror post. it stops.

easily heard at 15-20 mph.

Ive tried putting tape over the seams to localize it but I can not yet nail it down.
