Default Converting from Manual Hvac

i did some search and did not find anything expansive.

my car came with Manual HVAC control. vac lines and the cable operated main heat flap.

when doing my flush console kit, that was a pain to adapt. if one had, say, a later model heater box, control unit and wiring harness, could "power and ground" be added to the HVAC control and made to work? (i know sensors etc, would need to be hooked up)....

but would it be worth it in the end.... hummmmmm

Just buy the entire A/C system off of ebay that was already auto climate control. They are cheap, plentiful, and bolt in.

They also cost less to buy than the parts separately to convert your existing system.

Either way you will have to remove your HVAC system to convert to auto climate control.

I'm just glad my 81 has it because I have no vacuum going to the AC and I can at least change to AC or heat with the temp slider.

Very cool. I had wondered if this was a doable project. With many 80s cars in my background it seems like everythign was vaccuum actuated back then. Nissan HVAC systems were the same way. Mine seems to work fine right now, but it would be cool to never have to trouble shoot an HVAC vacuum leak again.

The hard part is tracking down a good used center console from an 81-83 with the center flap double valve.

It also has a specific switch on the CC that will activate that vacuum valve.

If possible go for a later system that came in a S3, those have easier to find parts and don't have the weird double valve.

I also encourage people to get rid of the useless rear A/C Unless of course you can get Gregg's ungraded system.
