Ah, I should have known. Mark would have already done his vetting of this vehicle before I came around to it

Thank you for your help

Hey Rob, can you run reverse searches? For example if I gave you a set of options could you tell me all the serial numbers that had them?

I can certainly try, the amount of work it takes depends on how common the options are. Give me an example and I'll give it a shot.

Please don't spend too much time on it as this is more a curiosity for now. As time goes by and I get exposed to more cars with various options, I will eventually start looking for my version of the "perfectly" optioned 928. But for fun, here is an example:

M139 Seat Heating System, Left Seat

M220 Locking Differential - 40% (87-89)

M335 Automatical Safety Belt 3-Point, Rear

M340 Seat Heating System, Right Seat

M570 Air Conditioner with Improved Efficiency (Rear A/C)

M981 Leather Equipment

XR7 Rear Window Washer

XU1 Remote Power Locks

Anything with exclusive options narrows the field quickly. In this case, I'm ignoring the M335 option as AFAIK it never appeared on a 928. And there's no 928 that checks all your boxes and doesn't have other stuff you may not want, but the closest one is this:

Sweet! Nice work Rob. I liked the idea of a 3 point real belt to make installing a child seat a little more secure. Good to know however that there is a way to filter out specific VINs based on option combinations.

The rumors are all true, and then some- heated sport seats, LSD, sport shocks, and no rubstrips. Sounds like a cool car.

Thanks Rob, It’s kinda cool to chase down the history. This one was clearly made for the German market, but somehow it spent time in Tokyo until 2005 when it traveled to Canada. Here’s “Tokyo Shark” today.
