What to look out for when shopping for an euro?
So.... (head hanging in shame...) I crashed my 84 AT while avoiding a stupid yellow cab stopped in the middle of the street. Even though he caused the accident, I swerved to avoid a collision and ended up hitting the curb straight on. Everything that mattered under the front is pretty much bent...
That was three weeks ago. Now, I find myself roaming aimlessly through craigslist and forum for possible replacement...
This guy is just around my neighborhood and I'm gonna pay him a visit this afternoon.
I'll come back with s'more pictures and details. But any wise words for a 928 junkie in need of a fix?

928 International is having their 1/2 off sale until Christmas, can it be fixed?
Not crazy about the hood scoop. No engine or interior shots.
Has the intake been refreshed? Motor mounts? Manual or auto?

If you want a Euro, I know where there is one in spectacular shape and the owner may well be ready to part with it. Black on black with chromed slots. It is a beauty. If I did not have Gretch, I would own this one.....
PM me if you want more details, I will simply make an introduction.

Is it registered in Calif? No current registration or BAR sticker on the door jamb and it won't get past Calif smog which considers anything without explicit docs otherwise to be a 49 state non Calif compliant car.
Is it a Euro S? 81 model had both the S and a same as US 78/79 low power version.
General comments; I am not a fan of an automatic, doubly so for a Euro which is a high revving not so much low end torque motor. 165k on the clock, plus whatever it had before federalizing isn't a big deal if it was well maintained, but if typical it means you are going to dump serious $$$ into a car that will never have much value. Sounds like the current owner "got it running" to sell it.
What about this 86.5 for $3500 http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/4213394123.html

K, report time.
The car is running. Albeit with tons of smoke. It did have CA registration papers from 2001. A few rust spots. At 1st glance, everything says "RUN!" as in away.
It is a running euro. So, it'll be a shame to just let her rot away there. But It's going to take time and $$$. None of which I have in excess.
DANGLERB: I considered that 86.5 mentioned, but I'm partial to 16V S's.
GRETCH: I'll pm you soon about that euro.
In the meantime, aimlessly, I continue to roam...
Tomorrow, I have the sad task of calling the Parts Heaven to go pick her up for scrap...

Well.... I did think about THAT. But I don't have the space nor the time.
If someone in norcal wanna host the carcass while it's being parted out... Let me see how much $$ the parts guys will give me for her tomorrow.
I've herein attached a few pictures of her... sniff

She still looks pretty good. Really would be a shame to scrap. (For real, I will take that AT shifter.)
Call 928 International. They'll probably give you a better deal and at least the parts will recirculate back into the community. Brown interior? How's the condition of the pod?

The pictures don't show the structural damage underneath. The impact against the curb bent the fenders upward just slightly. The car is in San Rafael right now. I don't know how economic it'll be to get her to'em in socal. But I'll call and check with them in the morning.
I'll see if there's enough time to get the shifter out for ye before she gets toed away.

I'd appreciate that Thanks. I'm kinda getting tired of accidentally pulling off my shifter handle. The plastic bottom part disintegrated.
The interior looks pretty decent though. Hope you get a great deal and put it towards another one. There's some fairly nice examples running around but haven't seen any euros lately. Will keep a look out.

The biggest ??? on ANY Euros S is does it still have a Euro S engine ?? Many were blown up and replaced with USA engines thereby giving up the higher compression, the bigger heads/valves, and camshafts....much of what made them an S.
The scarcity and cost of S cams also means that some broken cams got replaced with USA spec cams which is harder to determine in a casual inspection.
