Default Shift boot color, can't decide!

I can't decide between colors of a shift boot for my 87. Let me give a little bit of background for the interior. The interior is all black vinyl, nothing special. What I've done so far is to make new console side/kick panels out of mahogany, the raw mahogany is an orangey brown color, but I clear coated it, which makes it much darker. I love the grain of mahogany so I did that. I also made a new insert for the console out of mahogany, just bent the sheet of wood to the contour of the console groove, using slats of wood to flush mount it. It is the same shade as the kick panels. Now I just have the radio and HVAC control unit in the console, the lower part is all just wood, which is nice. I like the simplicity, I may put gauges in later though. Since I made the wood to fit the groove that is already in the center console, there is no longer any dip where the shifter surround is, just a nice continuous piece of wood.

I need to decide on a shift boot color. I want to go with a nice warm color, narrowed it down to; camel, cork, or mahogany but can't choose which one. The mahogany in some photos seems just too brown and plain, but in other shots looks great. The color variation between photos is so misleading, so I can't really get an accurate representation of the colors.

Can someone show some pics of any of those 3 colors? I did search all through this forum for pics but I think I need to see them all side by side to decide.

I wish I had pics of what I've done but my iPod screen is finally dicked. Fell off the hoist at work.

This is a before and after on my shift boot. I had some cork dye left over and thought WTH.

 !! That's beautiful! Man I love cork!! Just not sure if it would match mahogany or stand out too much. Camel seems a little darker than cork.

Throw some pics up of your mahogany trim whenever you can. Just by description, it seems like the burgundy might be a natural fit.
Purple is ugly, a deep dark burgundy is very luxurious.

I will when I go home this weekend. I'm sure there's a camera there I can use.

On the other hand I could make another set of these inserts with a lighter wood. Oak would match cork or camel perfectly, and it has a nice big broad grain. This insert was made by a member here. Personally I just love real wood in certain cars, it's easy to craft into whatever you want unlike plastic. You can just make your own custom interior parts.

Thanks and
I had no idea you could successfully dye to go to a lighter color. Cork is about my favorite - saddle color for the time in the saddle. What product did you use?

Cork leather with bird's eye maple detail would be stunning.

There are lots of woods that would look nice in a 928 interior. Cherry would almost perfectly compliment camel or cork, if stained right. It's weird because a lot of the cork, camel, mahogany interior pictures I've seen are so different in the way the color is represented. It's probably just different light doing that, but some cork I've seen is kind of shallow whereas some other cork interiors seemed to have developed this beautiful patina over the years that makes it look richer and darker.

Take this rear console on eBay for example, http://www.ebay.com/itm/NICE-USED-OR...-/281067059156

The color is so rich deep and warm. Whereas other pics show cork as being almost flesh colored.
