I used Speedhut's gauges at speedhut.com.

You used to be able to customize them right on the website, looks like they want you to call now.

Anyway, I've been very happy with them.

Gunmetal,
I believe that Mark pulled those out of cars that he was parting out. He is one of the most trusted suppliers of both new and used 928 parts.

The gauges are EL and come with their own power supply and dimmer. They are not available for automatics (for some inexplicable reason), and on my 86 there was a problem routing one set of gauge wires around the turn signal indicator light on the instrument panel.

I am pretty happy with them (I did have to modify the tach face to accommodate the gear indicator lights) - the faces are very legible and the dimmer range is very good. I am planning on replacing them, though, with another set from Speedhut. Even though the gauge needles look ok in the pic, they are way to dark in reality, and I'm going to put in a set that illuminate in reverse- the whole gauge face is illuminated so the needles should stand out. As robot808 noted, the website has changed and you can't order the way you used to, but I think a call will get me what I want.

Maybe we could motivate someone to develop/offer custom gauge face for the S4 and GTS!

The only custom gauge face I am aware of for the GTS is the Gemballa Design gauge face.

They still have the silly cut out bits instead of the original transparent warnings.
I used these;

Interestingly, those "silly cut-outs" don't bother me a bit - they look awesome and the "glow" feature makes you want to drive your car at night as much as possible. ... no, I don't work for Speedhut
