Hi guys, Last year I had the Pork-Tensioner installed on my 82 5 speed.
On a recent COLD morning when I started it, there was a intermittent noise coming from the right side (passenger side) plastic cover where the inspection hole is. It only lasted a few minutes but I need to know if there is an oil fill for this? and where is it?
You would think after owning this car for SIXTEEN years I would know this!
Thanks very much….
Rick

On point...
There are no oil-filled or greaseable parts in that area. You may have a dry or aging bearing. Could be the air pump or tensioner pulley or idler or water pump. Unlikely to be the cam shaft or tensioner itself.
A quick diagnosis would be to remove the air pump belt and start the car. That drives the fan but you don't need the fan until the engine is warm.
Diagnosis is tough as you'll need it to make the noise with the belt covers off. I suggest keeping a good eye (ear) on it. Plan to spend a few more bucks on the next timing belt job.
