Dave: Okay, great to hear that.
Mike: I agree, I have also replaced both my front ball shifter cup, release arm cup and rear coupler bushings.
For the rear coupler the bushings in mine was not so bad, just worn a bit "oval". I read in here somewhere that they might have some play from new. So, I had a friend manufacture a set of bushings for me from nylon (just cost me a couple of beers). They provided a tight fit, and practically no play is left in the rear coupler. The shifting feels great and precise. BUT, I do get vibrations coming to the gear stick - a bit too much for my taste. So I was actually considering replacing the entire rear coupler with a standard piece.
The delrin bushings are similar in "hardness"/"elasticity" to nylon right? So replacing the bushings with delrin wouldn't help me? (I guess my gearbox just gives a bit more vibrations)

Thanks

I think the delrin bushings have a round hole and therefore would be tighter and transmit all of that vibration.

You could need transmission mounts or you could just be more comfortable with the stock designed oblong holes which allow for some of that play to be absorbed before it comes forward to your hand.

It's a matter of personal preference. Some like that really tight, no-slop feel. Others say that built-in play is saving your synchros and elbow.

Well, I would of course prefer both! I love the tight and precise feel of the shift mechanism - but on the other hand the vibrations are getting more and more annoying. Now that I know they are there, I keep noticing them.
Good point about the transmission mounts. I will check them as soon as I get the change to get the car on a lift. If new transmission mounts doesn't do it, I think I will go with a new original rear coupler.
Thanks for the replies...

Here are the the delrin and standard shown together. I'd think it likely that the delrin wouldn't be any different in feel to the nylon, as both have a round hole. Maybe you could try offset reaming of the nylon ones you've had made to get some play back, or put the standard ones back in, if everything else checks out OK.
