Hey folks,
So, yesterday I cut a corner a little too close and nipped a crub @ about 30 MPH with the front left tire/rim. Left just a tad of rash on the aluminum. However, when I went to upshift, the gear wouldn't engage. After finagling a bit, i managed to work it into gear. While driving home, I realized that the shift forks don't seem to be lining up with the shifter.
I'm able to get it into all the gears, but especially for 1, 3 & 5, it's really tough, as i have to "hunt" around for them. It sorta feels like one of the old Atari joysticks. Aiming much further left than normal (almost into the next gear over) seems to help.
How could a bump to the front left affect the tranny?
What's wrong? (or, am i right in my assesment?)
How do I fix it!?![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Thanks in advance!!!
PS. what's with the search function being disabled by the admin?

Get under the car SAFELY.
Look above the rear end of the torque tube and find the rear shift rod coupler.
Check the nylon cups - I would bet that one of them is missing or broken.
Last time that I checked, you could NOT buy the correct cups for the 928 coupler separately. You can buy the 944 cups, but they are not quite correct for the 928. (the holes for the 944 are round, the holes for the 928 are oval.)
