Default Speedometer recalibiration

Hello guys,

I have a row 88 928 s4 with really low mileage. The car has been parked for a long time and needs some tlc prior to a wot drive. Anyways recently I paid attention to the speedometer hand which is relatively low that being under 0kmh starting point. Does anyone know how I can calibrate it properly. My gut feeling its a mechanical approach.

First drive the car and check against a GPS to make sure that the speedometer is consistently low by the amount it is below zero. Then you will know if it is a mechanical defect or that it just sits there at rest.

Lets assume the worst, how can I adjust it. Is there a DIY ? I tried searching for answers or threads but did not find anything similar.

Take the instrument cluster out and reposition the needle on the shaft.

For a very nice writeup with a lot of pictures, look in Dwayne's Garage.
