Is the 928 an non-interference engine? A broken 944 belt equals new valve job. Most just ditch the car realizing the cost/benefit ratio.

Some are, some aren't. However, none of them will run long enough with the cams disconnected to spin rod bearings.

The stock 1gz fe has 280 hp and 350ft.lbs torque.
It also has 4 cats , 7 mufflers and an intake so long they had to give it a comb over!
280hp? 350ft.lbs?
Me thinks 400hp 500ft.lbs NA with 1 muffler and half the intake.

Just checking in from the 944 sub forum, got directed to here. I'm definitely interested in doing the 1GZ swap into a 944 down the line...I'm still playing with my 8 cylinder swap

I noticed you're also in Texas, where about?

Well look what pulled in my driveway today. Dinsdale and his mad V-12, 6spd 928. Dins has transformed this 928 into a more than capable road star. TQ rush starts down low at approx 1600 RPM and just keeps pulling. Most linear power band that's been under this right foot. Has some cosmetic things left to do (don't we all) but at this point very impressed by this build. T

What, are body-tone headlight rings really that problematic?

Herman, my car is not for sale. me thinks your lashing out, realizing your own inadequacy.
I recommend you throw away the manuals. That's when the real fun begins!
I lost my manuals a few years ago. Now I have more torque at the drive thru than you have on the autobahn.
Best regards, Dinsdale

Why do people get so butthurt at others that decide not to conform? Face it... there are things some of us want to improve on the 928. If you don't believe it, then taken that Porkensioner and S300s out. Other than that.. whether it is LS swaps or 1GZFEs, if it makes the car go faster for cheaper... do it.

Dins, I still want that C5 4L60E in the back of my car with 3.90 gears. Still a couple years out sadly but have drawn out my wiring diagrams already for mating the TCU to the LH and EZK

not for nothing but you now have over 40 horsepower less than a stock S4, GT and GTS engine and only 30lbs more of torque on the S4, it actually makes 20lbs less than a GTS. not much of an improvement and the extra horsepower of the stock porsche engines will blow by you on the highway...this swap makes no sense to me because as far as V12s goes, this motor is a complete dog, probably the weakest/lowest horsepower modern V12 you can find.

don't do it or go buy a mustang or some other car produced in the millions and hack that up, leave the limited production 928s alone....but if you have to, stick with porsche power, our V8s have been made to produce up to 1000 crank horsepower by a few people, how much more HP do u need than that?

And how much do you think it costs to build a 1000HP 928?

I love Jegs

We are their number one customer for my Father's 1970 560HP 496 Camaro SS build. They also may be another source for my C5 Auto conversion later.

I would hate to see Dinsdale's thread devolve into a pissing contest over what is right and wrong to do to a 928. All I know is if I have the chance ever to ride with him in his V12 swap, I can tell you I will never look at OB 928s the same again.
