Now finally for some good news. My 928 is back home and running great. Eric had the car for a total of eight days and did the following:
1. He checked all the items mentioned by all of you, but could not find anything wrong.
2. He wound up replacing the crank position sensor. ($269)
3. He also replaced the cam position sensor. ($240)
4. He replaced the spark plug ignition wiring harness. ($570)
5. Total labor charges - $365 - which under the circumstances I feel is very reasonable.

I know the ignition wiring harness was cracked and due to be replaced. When I had the car at Renn Haus they also brought that to my attention. I guess having the original for almost 25 years is not too bad.

When I got the car back I also noticed that Renn Haus left me the original set of spark plugs. I know some of you were very interested in these because they claimed the spark plug gap had closed. However, I checked over each sparkplug and they look perfect. The gap seems correct and none are closed.

I also tried to look up the cost of the OEM parts mentioned above, but could not find them. I would assume the cost of these parts are in line with what we would expect to pay unless any of you have different information.

Now I'm ready to put this behind me and put a lot of miles on this car. Thanks again for all your help. I hope I never have to do the same for you.

Btw since there are items being replaced, replacing knock sensors will probably make the engine run even better. An intake refresh too.

Regarding the prices, I'd say you got a good deal. These prices are 10-20% under Porsches currently listed prices (in Germany).

The car is running so good I think I'm just going to drive it the way it is until something else happens.

Thanks for the information on the price of the parts. Between the cost of parts and his labor I think I was treated very fairly. I hope you agree.
