In praise of the Blink'r

Now that I've reached the "refinement" phase of the intake refresh on my '85, which has continued long enough that ending it will have a profound effect on my entire lifestyle, I felt the need to write a short testimonial to the virtues of PorKen's Blink'r approach to MAF tuning.
Originally I installed the Blink'R with no success. I just couldn't find any position on the MAF that would make that little light blink. I became depressed. My car ran like crap and there was apparently nothing I could do about it. After many sleepless nights I decided to forge ahead and just start replacing stuff. So the Great Intake Refresh of 2012 was born.
After finding a huge hole in one of the vacuum lines, two dead injectors and a bad plug wire to the #2 cylinder, along with a battery that was just about toast, I achieved a running engine. A test drive last week revealed a high idle so yesterday I prepped the car for idle adjustment. I dug out my Blink'r instead of jumpering the test terminals as described in the WSM since I had one. I'd never gotten the light to blink but it still had the switch on it to disable interference from the ECU while I was setting the idle.
I started the car, warmed it up, hooked up my tach and began adjusting the idle when, lo and behold, a small red LED started blinking at me![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The car is running great, I didn't spend $300 on a CO sensor and I now have confidence in my air/fuel mix.
Thanks Ken!

I did a top end refresh on my 86.5 earlier in the year. I have a Blink'r but haven't used in years. You're post has reminded me I need to dig out the Blink'r and tune the MAF.
