Default Temp II sensor removal? '87 S4

Friends,

These cars were clearly put together by sadists. What's the best way to get the Temp II sensor out; I've got a new one to get in there, of course I have lost the metal spring clip to the valley (of oily abyss).

I couldn't get a flare wrench on it and the 18 doesn't seem to want to get on it; is it a 19?

Josh

ahh take the new Temp 2 and find a deep well socket that fits it.

With the engine cold,
remove the coolant cap, take a deep breath, exhale
and install the cap.
Remove the temp 2 sensor.
NOTE place a rag around the area to catch any coolant that may come out,
there shouldnt be any.
Use a new sealing washer

^ +1.
Josh, just went into the garage and an 18 wouldn't quite get on. A 19 had slight play. An 18.5 would probably be ideal if it existed. Looks like it will be a 19. I went to my standard set and had the same issue with an 11/16 and a 3/4.

Use a deep socket. Mine came off easy with one. Use a long extension on the socket wrench (piece of pipe) to get a lot of torque.

It's a huge pain in the L jet cars. You have to remove the fuel pressure regulator and then you can remove it.
It sounds so easy on the later LH Jet cars.

It should be. A little penetrant. A little torque. The unit is a straight shot out and in.

Hello Bonton. I have a question. Could you remove your Temp 2 Sensor?? Did you need any special tool?? I can’t unplug the wires with the blue cap and I’m thinking how to remove the sensor under the manifold intake….

Thank you in advance
