Steven,
It is good to hear you now. With the time course of symptoms you had, and fecal contamination in the sterile peritoneal cavity, you were fortunate that overwhelming sepsis did not occur, not in days but in hours of the unchecked contamination. Sorry to hear you were minimalized as well as mis-directed in you Dx and Tx initially. Gives us good ones a bad name.
Again glad you are able to tell the tale.
You will be well soon.
Craig

Been there, done that. Welcome to the club.
My intestines also ruptured, due to Crohn's disease in 1986. I had just turned 16. Mine went septic; so bad that the doc left the surgery to tell my parents I probably wouldn't make it. Removed about 2ft of big/small intestine. Spent a week in ICU (can't really remember anything of that week, I was in/out of consciousness, pumped full of drugs) and another 3 weeks in the hospital. Over 25 years later and I still keep in touch with my surgeon (he's a lifelong Porsche guy too), and haven't had any other problems with Crohn's disease.
Good luck on your recovery, hope it all goes well!
