Pulling into a gas station using my turn signal, I shut the car off with the turn signal on. As I turned off the ingnition the chime continued to ring after the key was out. At that point i made sure the running lights weren't on.
When I got out of the car I noticed that only the right side running lights were on. I thought "Great, what the hell is going on now? Dirtly fuse....geez this is the last thing I need."
When I got back into the car and discovered the turn signal stil engaged it dawned on me that it was a genious way to integrate the ability to selectivly illuminate the marker lights for safety.
Illuminatiing one side or the other was not something American cars came with so kind of unusual to me; can 't really remember the Mercedes deisels that we had when I was a kid coming with that feature.
At any rate when is this feature used/used for? Primarily as a safety marker when parked on the shoulder?
Discovered it the hard way in my 81. Instead of lighting up the turn signals like in the later cars it lights up the driving light and rear turn signal in the earlier cars.
I left it on for 8 hours when I was in school last year, the car ALMOST didn't start, but it did in the end.
The inside hood light only comes on when the park lights are on.... and there is an inner funnel tube inside the washer fill tube, not really sure whats that is for?
It's for safety when quickly parking on those narrow (and dark) European streets. I discovered this as a car jockey back in the 80's at the local Porsche Dealer...
there is an inner funnel tube inside the washer fill tube, not really sure whats that is for?
I believe this is for the "extra heavy-duty" windshield wash juice. If you fumble underneath the gauge pod on the right side, there is a small button. This button activates the wipers and the secondary spray that is supposed to be a special mix you buy from Porsche for hard to remove gunk.
