Default 80 Euro, replaced fuel pump/filter, down on power

Guys...(and the occasional gal)

I Have replaced the fuel pump/filter/fuel pump relay and 2 of the gas lines on my 1980 Euro 4.7....

Now it is down on power....runs ok til you get to 2500 rpm or

any ideas?

Could I have gotten the wrong fuel pump?
Does the Euro take a different fuel pump?

You should have the pump for a 78 or 79 US car. If you got one for a 1980 US car then you have the wrong one. There are many variations of the fuel pump that look identical.

The fuel pump was Bosch part # 911-608-102-00
It looks to fit
78-79 US

It has a 1 1/2 " snout with a female connector...it looks just like the pump I took off of the car.

The part that fits 1980-83 Euros..... Bosch part #911-608-102-02 is totally different looking with a removable fitting. I originally ordered tis part but it was not correct.

Was just wondering if there were similar looking pumps with different pressure levels.

Check your fuel flow rate per the shop manual to confirm there is no blockage. If the flow rate is good I'd check the control and system pressure to see if its with in specs. It could have changed after the new fuel system items.

Your experience doesn't match mine or the PET. Here's a link:
http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...=91160810202#a

That shows the P/N for the Euro S being the same as the 78-79 which makes sense as those are all CIS cars. Is your car a Euro S with the CIS system?

Maybe post some pics of what you've got going on. Prior mechanics may have done poorly by you.

928BC is right in looking for actual flow rates.

If your car is a 1980 ROW 4.7L CIS car then the correct pump is 911 608 102 02.
First thing to check is the engine type - on the right side of the thermostat housing - should be M28 11/12.
78/79 USA/ROW are all CIS cars and use different pumps - if the pump is mounted in the right fender it is 911 608 102 00. If it is on the back of the tank it is 930 608 102 02. AutoAtlanta data is full of mistakes unfortunately.

Are you sure your car is a 4.7L CIS and not a 4.5L CIS as the 4.5L CIS continued in ROW cars until 1982 along side the 4.7L S?? The pump used on the 80 to 82 4.5L CIS is 911 608 102 00. Engine number for the 4.5L CIS 80 to 82 is M28 9/10.

Remember you also have an in tank pump and it may be not running or seized as well.
