'80 Euro rear left parking light stays on
Greetings. I am a first time poster and look foward to many more. I have an 1980 928s Euro. M28/12 combonation. I have a strange electrical glitch that I am having trouble nailing down. First some back story. Bought the car in June for $1000 making me the 3rd owner. Engine runs great. Interior was a mess. Not a piece slavagable. I have repair records all the way back from when it was imported. Have cleaned up many of the electrical issues (clucter not functioning, power windows non functional, no interior light, load on battery causing it to die) the list can go on for a while. So it brings me to a new glitch after I've solved some of the others. When I turn off the key and remove it my rear drivers parking light stays on (not the brake) It is the lower filament remaining on. This can be solved by a certain sequance. (turn off lights prior to turning off car) But if I turn the car off before turning off the light (head light/parking) the left rear light stays on.
I have searched the forums and can't find a solution for this issue.
Any ideas? Is there a relay I may have overlooked that is staying engergized if I turn the car off before the light switch?
All help would be greatly appreciated.

European cars have a feature that the parking lights on one side of the car can be activated when the car is parked by leaving the indicator switch 'turned' to that side (this does not require that the sidelight switch be on). This feature is for tightly parked cars in downtown streets where they wanted the traffic side of the car lit up overnight without wasting electricity lighting the sidewalk side. Is is possible you have a fault that has this on - I would expect the side light at the front on the same side to be on if so.

Since you have an early car you may not have an owners manual,
there are many bits of info on how things work on your car and its worth a read.
Anyway here is a link to the manuals if you don't have one.
Compliments of Andrew Olsen,

FWIW this issue may be caused by a faulty turn signal switch being left in the turn position.
Also check the fuses make sure that all of the fuses that should be in the the spaces are,
and that the empty spots should be empty.
Also do the same for the relays check proper position and part numbers at the CE panel.

Guys,
Thank you all for the input. Sure enough it was the turn signal switch. For European models if the turn signal is down or up with the keys removed it does leave that side parking light on.
MrMerlin- thanks for the link to the owners manuals. The explanation was in the '83 Euro manual and not in the '80 US. Guess not all the options were removed when the car was brought over.
