Damaged odo cluster connector
i was cleaning my 86.5 for smoke smell. so here i was taking out the dash for cleaning then i noticed this AFTER i took out the odo
i am going to use superglue as a temp measure so it can be driven but replacing it is best. either jist that entire white plastic back or the entire odo.
Sadly I only realized this after I disconnected it, I hope when I reconnect it that it will work.

I think those get broken a lot. The plastic gets fragile over time and it sticks down from the pod. People don't know it's there and snap it off when removing the pod. Both of my cars had it broken when I got them. At least I think it was broken before I got to it.
Glue it up or get a new back plate or pod.
That pod is a poor design in several ways. A replacement would be great but it's complicated and had to make. They used that hindsight-crappy flexible printed circuit to enable the pod shape.

I just got mine back in the car and with all the new LED's and the prism reflectors, the illumination is still on the dark side.
Now my fuel gauge and temp bounce around. Really frustrating. I went to the VDO repair shop in Palo Alto and they told me that no new parts are available. So I bought an 84 and only to find it is not compatible to an '80. What to do.
This really sucks, to be honest

I wonder how much it will cost to have the circuit board integrated into the back plate.

Sorry to be a dastardly spammer, but i bought this a few months back from the dealer to see if it would work for my MY'83.
Dealership said it was only good for MY'85 on up to GTS. I didn't trust them and found out the hard way they were right. Make an offer..
