Thanks for all the replies . The level of info you supplied is unbelievable. Thanks guys.
I have sent Colin Jensen an email and hoping to hear from him soon on what he can offer. Porsche has 3 of the 4 cams available and asking around USD 1000 for each.
I will either find a cheaper set of clean used or aftermarket cams or leave the existing ones in.

If you have the original cams they should be fine - GT cams often show some pitting.
Post some pictures here and the experts will tell you good or bad.
First dibs on your GT cams if you want to sell them.

Ok , I will post pictures tomorrow. You are right, there is slight pitting and that is the reason for the change
I will definitely let you know if I will find a better set and replace mine.

When I built my 911 RS replica back in the early 90's (I guess they're called 'tribute' cars these days...), I built an RS spec 2.7 motor and Web Cam rewelded and reground my camshafts to RS spec at a price far lower than the unobtanium RS cams. Has anybody done this with GT cams? Any reason not to?

I did not realize that the GT cams are significantly more radical than S4 cams.

The cost for reeled end cams is higher than my brand new cams.
Additionally, the S4 cams which are plentiful have a narrower LSA which isn't as desirable.
