This was the first mod I performed within a month of ownership. I was really agravated with how the power outlet was placed in the ashtray and how ugly it looked with the ashtray open and when in use...which is always if you use a smart phone or the like. Add a fuzz buster and your screwed. So I developed this easy solution for under $20. Started out by buying 2 motorcycle power outlets on ebay bout $5 for two. Then some black and red 18 guage wire like $4 at auto parts store. Then another $6 for an array of wire ends. I also put the kick down switch in between the pods and alarm LEDs. These are pics of the project and how i wired them up using the existing wiring from the OEM outlet.. You need a dremel to remove some of the sheet metal from the ashtray. I use 3M double stick to adhere the ashtray to the cover.

I used vampire clips to tap off the existing wires to the 12v outlet to add another to the passenger side parcel shelf for my iPod. Wasn't thinking ahead - should have used a double outlet so cell phone could charge, too. :doh!:
