Oxygen Sensor Missing
Spent a good hour underneath car tonight trying to find Oxygen Sensor. I went down each header to the back of the factory dual cat to make sure it wasn't hiding. Nothing is installed and the grommet where the wiring should go up into the passenger compartment is sealed.
Since these are aftermarket headers on this new car to me, i thought the sensor might be located towards the manifold. But no, nothing installed. Only the hard line connection from the air pump.
How does this lack of O2 sensor affect the car, the performance, and since this has been like this a while; is the catalytic converter plugged or clogged? There isn't any rattling when i hit the cat, but the whole exhaust seems to be cobbled together with pieces and parts.
Looks like I need to replace the exhaust, so, any particular O2 Sensor? X-pipes with these aftermarket headers? Cats? Mufflers? 2 1/2" Diameter dual system?
Seems I have this champagne taste with a beer budget....
Thanks,
Tom

Your options mostly depend on your budget, and what type of Headers are installed and if you are going to replace them too.
If the car is using the Factory ECU's (LH and EZf), then yes you need a narrow band (3 wire) O2 sensor to get the correct fueling. Note: The Factory O2 is located at the front of the factory CATs up top where they come together.
Here's a pic of my '86.5 set up using Factory headers the "Ott X", factory resonators, no muffler(RMB).
Please post some pic's of your current set up.
