I've got some great stops lined up for our tour (over by noon i promise).

The British Emporium is 1 stop. (I can't wait to check it out).
The Last Stop - I may end up with a Texas-sized Martini!

woop woop!

Default Itinerary for Saturdays 928s on 9/28

Breakfast is at 8:30 at Jake's Uptown (Grapevine)
Walk to Olive Oil Company and/or Stogie Shop (or drive a block or 2)
Depart 10:15-30am for British Emporium.
Depart 10:50 for La Buena Vida (Grapevine). Wine Tasting is $9/3 tastings.
Depart 11:45 for WildWood Grille (Southlake). $10/3 Tastings & Cheese! They have Texas-Sized Martinis (out of a FROZEN TAP! - YUM!).

From Brian the General Manager at Wildwood Grille (Southlake). “…. The flight will be excellent, and will be a nice showcase for what we do at the restaurant. I will be happy to guide your group through the wines if you would like. As for the martinis, we do indeed have fruity and delicious on tap. The liquors that we feature for the martinis come out of a frozen tap, so they pour at 28 degrees. We have Tuaca Lemon Drops and Pomegranate Martinis, and anything else you can come up with. It will certainly be a good time. I will put a reservation down under your name at noon on Saturday. I look forward to hearing from you on the guest count so that we may prepare. See you in a few days!”

We had a wonderful day today. For Breakfast we had a dozen show up for breakfast, and a PAC-10 group that stayed for the whole gig. There were a lot of very good stories told here this morning, but before we could get on the road, it started pouring down rain but only long enough to get things good and damp and muggy.

I thought we took a picture here, but I guess not. dangit. The only picture I took was of the waitresses fingernails (I gotta have mine done like hers - they were cute).

Our next stop was the Cigar Shop down the street where we decided to drive because even though it had stopped raining it looked like it was about to start raining again. It started raining right as we were getting out of our cars and walking in. And in the parking lot, I overhear 2 guys in a doorway of an establishment next door talk about Risky Business and I add “and Scarface”, yep – that’s the car – always a good conversation starter. They liked the cars. Anyway – in the cigar shop ‘Cheryl Crow’ was there waiting to help us, and she was a great help to the guys. The back smoke room is impressive, as well as the private lockers (WOW) – just for cigars – really?. The guys in the group picked up some cigars, and I picked up some cute little cigar boxes. ‘Cheryl Crow’ impressed me with her ability to perch atop a high bar chair cell phone in hand to take our picture below. It stopped raining.

We drove down to the British emporium where we had a great time on a scavenger hunt for spotted dick, pickled cockles and bangers. I unfortunately did not pick up the coffee mug celebrating little Prince George's birth - It was $25! I'm going to have to try to find it cheaper someplace else. We left there and it started to rain again. It rained. (sorry no pic).

Next stop - La Buena Vida. It wasn’t raining. Great. Our Pac-10 group went inside to escape the wonderful mugginess that usually follows the great texas rain for our first tasting. La Buena Vida is very pretty with 2 fountains out front and a great patio. The sommelier introduced us to their Wines from their winery in Lubbock, Texas. Their vineyard is one of the largest in Texas. They were very generous with the “taste”. We lined up for a picture here in front of one of their fountains. Tortured by mugginess – we run back inside. The winning wine here - was the Red Headed Sangria – Delicious. They sold a few bottles to us and we left here and headed to our next stop Wildwood Grill. It started raining.

The ambiance at Wildwood was great. The GM had set us up with a lovely tasting of 3 wines, 1 each from Spain, France and Italy. He really took a lot of time and thought into our tasting. It was impressive. The cheese was great and I fell in love with a Cheddar. I’m pretty sure we were all in agreement that we have got to get back to Wildwood as soon as possible. There was a vote taken as to which of the wines won, but fortunately I had a pretty good buzz at this point and I didn’t care which one won – they were all good, and I had to find out where to get that Cheddar.

I sure had a good time this morning. We have such a great 928 Family!

P.S. In case you were wondering - It was raining when we left.
