Are you talking about trim tabs?

I have done some rasping and sanding on the Spoiler today and had used the disc grinder/sander to reshape the top edge a little including rounding the top corners a little more. Also I have further tapered and thined the foreward extensions a bit more.

Then I decided to put in some splints in the middle in order to put some strength in it in that area because when I get to dig/carve out the fairly deep recess for the key/lock relief that is going to essentially cut the back bone in two leaving only end grain wood holding it together. It would not be able to be handled nearly at all, and I have a lot of handling left to do.

What I did was cut some strips of quarter inch aluminum plate about 3/8 inch wide and then rough sanded them so the epoxy will stick better to them . Then I used my other grinder with a quarter inch router bit in it to carve out two recesses in which to bed the splints. Here are some pictures of the process:

The last picture shows where I might want to put a third splint, just for good measure. Both of the first splints are now curing in epoxy and when they set firmly enough I'll look into doing the third one.

While I was posting the above information the postman came and delivered the rounded sanding block and the quantity of round hook and loop sanding discs that will work in it. Here is a picture of both of the ones I bought.

Also I have put a picture in the post that shows the latest shape of the foreward extensions, or at least one of them. They are both pretty close to the same, at least from the eyeball standpoint.

Next, when I get the splints bedded, I am going to do some more sanding and then do some more finishing with bondo. I still have to go to the store for that.

After that I think I will paint the Spoiler with some sandable primer-surfacer so that I can better see the high and low spots and get this into its finished shape.
