another a/c question
I have a small problem that I cannot figure out on my '86.5 auto. It seems that there is some air coming from defrost vents when a/c is on. If just using vent there is no problem with air distribution.
Today I checked vacuum pots, and found the fresh air pot had finally gone south. This has been replaced, and all other pots are new but air bleed to defrost is still present with a/c in use. I am stumped as to what the problem may be, any help or ideas are greatly appreciated.
As an aside I will be bringing a few items to sharktoberfest to sell to help fund the trip (bringing 3 cars) Some are things I cannot use: '87 stainless rmb, smoked sidemarkers and front blinkers for '87/newer. Other things are 6 plastic models of different scale (one is motorized) a new splash shield for '86/earlier, new cam gears for '83/'84 and a few other things I think (need to look at the 'to move on pile')
If it is forbidden to post this please delete it and I will post only the a/c question as I am not sure on prices or if there is any interest.

There is always some leakage to the defroster vents - the flaps don't seal completely - by design I think.
If you select the console vents and shut the center vent and the door vents manually - there has to be some airpath else the blower is completely dead-headed... the least impact is to allow a little leakage to the defroster vents.

It should only be a small amount if the other vents are all open (are they?) - both cars should be similar.
Generally if the directional vents are pointed at you the flow at the defroster vents is hard to detect...
