Default rack and pinion leak

Well not 3 days ago, I started to see drop on my driveway on my passenger side, I looked under and it appears to be coming from my rack and pinion. I know a rebuilt one can in me up to 500, but how much would it cost to rebuild one and what shops can do that? I'm located in Dallas and it would be great help so I can start preparing to take it off. So far I found this rebuild kit on AUTOZONE!!! I Know right, what do you think?

Call Roger order one of his 928INTL rebuilt racks,
They are plug and play and forget about it.

Rebuilding the rack is time consuming and depending on the damage to the your rack,
it can easily fail after you spend the time fixing it .
Also replace the curved hose to the pump and the reservoir and the short hose to the hard line/reservoir,
The new rack comes with new sealing washers

We sell a rebuild kit for the 928 rack for $65.
Some have good luck with it others threw it in the trash and went with a rebuild.
It is just a large bag of seals and such.

Most racks start to leak as the wear and subsequent play in the end bushings gets excessive. The rebuild kits do not include those pieces, although they do include the seal. So you 'rebuild' by replacing the seals, but not the bushing that causes the seal failure. In a year you are scratching your head about the premature seal failure again. Be aware that cheap rebuilders don't do much more. Remember too that hydraulic seals have no tolerance for even small scratches in shafts and bores where seals ride.

Most DIY rack repairs get trashed when a screwdriver is used to push a section apart, and there's a tiny scratch on the metal rack itself. The out comes the sandpaper or a stone to try and blend away the scratch, only making the problem worse. While there are some folks I trust to do this stuff correctly (Greg Brown heads that list), thelist is really very short in te end. And it doesn't include me.

Mark @ 928 International has a rebuilder that does them quite well, well enough that our other vendors carry the same rebuilds. You get a nice warranty, proper packaging, fast reliable service too. And you can have your new inner and outer tie rods shipped with the rebuilt rack.

And make sure you change the reservoir.
