Just did front shocks, tie rods/ends and ball joints and now...
So the car was riding very low in front. Turns out the shocks were pretty beat up and old. While putting the new in we found lifting spacers. took them out, popped in all the new parts, including springs and now the car is even lower. I can't drive it on the street or it bottoms out on the oil pan. The car did not have the adjustable. What are my options? Pic of car is a before pic..

WARNING these shock assemblies should be handled very carefully ,
as the lower perch could suddenly come past the nubs on the shock body,
and thus release the spring,
handle with gloves and extreme care.
from the picture it appears you dont have the screw collar or the adjuster collar on the shock body,
thus the perch is sitting pretty low. and its only being held with the shock body nubs UNSAFE
Are these Boge reds?
Best bet take a look at the WSM to see how the parts of a shock should look or use the PET.
from the looks of it your missing part 15 and 14 in the first shock diagram
link with PET picture on post 7

Did you put in new springs or re-use the old ones? Here is a picture of my 84 with original springs and green Bilsteins with non-sdjustable perches. It sure looks like the spring in your picture has one less coil than mine. Your old ones may have been cut down.
EDIT: I see you put new springs in.

Did you compare your old springs with the new ones you got?
I agree with Mrmerlin you are missing the adjustable perches. My understanding is all 928's came with the front's adjustable.
Maybe I am wrong?

The non-adjustable fronts may be a Bilstein only thing for the mid-year S cars, but I have heard of other 928s with non-adjustable fronts. Not sure about the Koni or Boge setups.

ON the OPs car this front shock is missing the inner threaded collar and the outer adjuster collar.
NOTE the Boge inner collars dont fit tightly to the Koni shock body so you may have a time trying to adjust ride height

My 83 S had factory M474 Sport Bilsteins. Fronts were not adjustable, but rears were. New front Bils from 928intl came with adjustable collars. Before replacement front height was under 150mm, is now up at spec height.

As Mr. Merlin said be very careful and don't drive the car until this is corrected. All '86 models had adjustable height front shocks. Contact 928 International and see if they have any used collars and adjusting nuts. Be sure to liberally coat the collar threads with a mix of anti-seize past and synthetic grease to make the height adjusters as easy to turn as possible. You will need to set the ride height all the way around after correcting this issue and then get a good alignment after settling the car properly.
Matt,
Shoot me a PM for the name of a shop that can properly align the car.
This is why you should have someone familiar with 928's work on your car unless you are going to do the research before attempting the work yourself.

using the WSM would have proved an invaluable resource for a DIY guy
