REAR WING INSTALL QUESTION

Roger shaved the rear wing off of his GTS, it looks pretty cool

It took me two tries before I got something that held for random hard SLAMs of the rear hatch by my soccer girls.
When I first got the car the wing was obviously loose. Each side had one nut that tightened while the other just spun. I did a basic drill out and made a jig to hold a new bolt using epoxy. This worked for about 6 months but after a bunch of slams the wing gave loose.
The second repair required me to work around the first repair. I decided to drill out the two bolt positions(one on each side) and mount a nut in the epoxy rather than a bolt. I tried to make the geometry of the drill out, nut, washer and epoxy work so that it would be resistant to pulling out.
Attached is the basic idea of what I did.

I think I am going to go with the delete (not because of the prior sentence).
Thanks for the idea though.

I think I'm going to keep the wiper. Have to keep a vestige of austere German functionality, and I wouldn't want anyone to say a 996 was trying to look like me.

It IS a slippery slope, but the wiper system all alone looks like a gnarly barnacle on the *** of the 928. On my pending body work and full re-spray I am doing a front headlamp washer, front & rear sidelamp, bodyside moulding and rear bumperette delete along with an interior rear air removal and front main console mods to accomodate a double-DIN audio/nav system. It never ends, but that will probably only leave a stage I supercharger on the list of "updates" that I would want/need in the future. Oh yeah, I'm also putting on a GTS rear bumper cover. GO FOR IT!

Somewhere in the rennlist 928 archives, Andrew Olson showed how he removed his rear wiper system including the motor and capped the holes (thereby making it reversable). Other wiper-deleters (and there are a lot) just left the posts and covered them with a plastic condom-like thingy. Once you remove the wing, you can try the view with or without the wipers with ease. Ultimately, you will enjoy the enhanced view of the soccer mom in the SUV that is running up your *** at the stop sign and be frustrated as hell when the wiper motor stops dead in the middle of the rear hatch.......again and again. Enjoy as you like, it's your toy!

Craig,
I'm looking at NC928S4 drawing and... I did exactly the oposite!
I put the bolt in the epoxy (head down in the epoxy) and and use the nuts on the hatch side.
Alot easier that way.
Everything's still good after maybe five years.
But I NEVER use the wing to close the hatch. NEVER!
Not saying NC's method is not good, but want to let you know what I did.

I was planning to do it in your manner.
Can't see how he got nut and washer in there without major surgery. Also not much for the epoxy to bind to, and keeping the bolt channel clear I could see being a challenge.
